Director's Message
Welcome to Cornell University's New York State Agricultural Experiment
Station. It is one of the premier horticulture research and extension
institutes in the world. The outstanding faculty, high quality laboratory,
greenhouse, and field facilities; state-of-the-art electronic and
information resources; and friendly and dedicated employees make
the Station an exciting and pleasant place to study and conduct
research. The beauty of the Finger Lakes region of which Geneva
is the hub makes it a delightful place to live.
The focus of both research and extension programs at Geneva is
on the production, protection, and processing of horticulture food
crops. The interests of the research scientists range from applied
to basic science including biotechnology, with frequent cooperation
between basic and applied scientists and among scientists in other
disciplines. Research and extension faculty work closely with members
of the agricultural community and encourage their graduate students
and other visiting scholars to participate in this important activity.
The relatively small campus at Geneva enables faculty, staff,
and students to have close contact in an intellectually stimulating
and professional environment. Visiting scientists, graduate students,
and post-doctoral associates from around the world enhance the important
exchange of new horticultural research at the Experiment Station.
