Provide
support to the Directors of Geneva Experiment Station to ensure
smooth internal functioning of the Station, and also good working
relations with commodity organizations and other external audiences.
Emphasis is on non-academic activities and issues. Represent
the Directors in working with internal and external contacts
having primary responsibility for addressing specific topics;
e.g., land and facilities management, compliance with government
and Cornell regulations, facilitate commodity grant programs,
chair the Stations Safety Committee, and address environmental
contamination problems.
Provide support
for Directors who administer grants programs for fruit and vegetable
commodities. This includes annually updating list of actions
needed by date for each commodity; making arrangements for meetings;
handling oral and written communications with researchers including
RFPs and progress reports; as well as industry grants representatives
and the administrator of marketing orders in the Department
of Agriculture and Markets, informing department and other account
managers of awards; and keeping records of all transactions.
Provide support for
the Director, and Assistant Director in
Geneva. Act as the primary interface for these offices with
other administrative staff, department chairpersons, faculty,
staff in Geneva and Ithaca, and individuals and groups external
to the Station. Handle written and oral communication for the
Director, and Assistant Director ranging
from routine matters to highly confidential and sensitive issues.
