North Seneca Ambulance
Equipment
NSA operates out of our base on Mound Rd. Rt 414N in Waterloo, NY. The base houses the dispatch center, ambulance barn, training facility, office space as well as living quarters for our on-duty crew.
NSA operates four Braun Ambulances that have increased in size over the years but each ambulance is equally equipped for emergencies. Our ambulances are regularly inspected by the state to verify compliance with Part 800 of the Department of Health code. Our ambulances carry significantly more equipment than required by law.
We carry multiple backboards and splints, large quantities of bandages, oxygen and specialized equipment for moving patients from difficult locations. We have a heart defibrillation unit on each ambulance that is capable of both monitoring a patient's heart activity and shocking a patient's heart when needed. We also carry IV solutions and a drug kit on each ambulance for our advanced life support technicians.
Each ambulance is equipped with appropriate lighting and radio equipment for communications with the base, hospital or other emergency agencies. Every ambulance and several of our EMTs are equipped with portable radios so that communications are possible while out of the ambulance at a call. Most of the members also have pagers that allow us to summon help when needed via a general page or individual page depending on the situation.
