Director of the NY State IPM Program (75% appointment)
- direct the activities of regional and campus based IPM specialists
and oversee a grants program that supports the efforts of researchers
and Cooperative Extension specialists. The goal of the NY IPM Program
is to develop and deliver a sustainable approach to managing pests
that combines biological, cultural, physical, and chemical tools
in a way that minimize economic, health and environmental risks.
This goal is achieved in cooperation with Cornell University personnel
and through continuous dialogue with stakeholders in the agricultural
and non-agricultural sector of our society. The Program helps address
IPM needs in agriculture and in the urban environment.
Associate Professor of Entomology (25% appointment)
- responsible for the development and implementation of IPM strategies
for vegetable crops. Program emphasis is on insect population dynamics,
biological control, development and application of insect behavior
modifying chemicals, and alternative pest management tactics.
