Insect, disease, and weed pests are major limitations in food production. In order to manage these pest problems properly, it is important to know their identity and biology. This site is intended for use by growers, extension personnel, agribusiness people, and consultants to aid in the identification of common crop pests found in New York state and the northeast. Used in conjunction with available fact sheets, other WWW sites and university recommendation information, this site can assist in the proper management of crop pests.

The pictures on this site were obtained largely from the collection of the photolab at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY and from various people at Cornell. They are organized by pest or crop and show the life stages of the pests and the typical damage they cause. We are missing many of the required pictures so please let us know if you can supply any.

Currently only insect pests of some vegetable crops are available on this site but expansion to diseases and weeds is planned in the near future. We would appreciate your comments and suggestions.
