   Program Overview

Research: Insect Behavior and Chemical Communication Systems. Current projects include: 1) Host Race Formation Among Southern Hawthorn-Infesting Populations of Rhagoletis pomonella (NSF) 2) Collaborative Research: Discrimination of Complex Mixtures in Olfactory Signaling (NSF), 3) Defining Key Grape Volatiles Used for Host Location as a Basis for assessing Phenology and Management of Grape Berry Moth (NRI), 4) Apple maggot Host Attractants (Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission).

Outreach/Education: Presentations on insect diversity to local elementary schools. Participation in Experiment Station tours for scientists, educators, politicians, etc.
