The 2009 ASEV/ES conference will take place July 20-22, at the Renaissance Quail Hollow Resort http://www.quailhollowresort.com/ located in Northeast Ohio known as the heart of the Ohio wine industry. The Quail Hollow Resort accommodates 176 spacious guest rooms with excellent conference, restaurant and lounge facilities.  The resort offers over 15,000 flexible square feet of both meeting and banquet space servicing all our needs. Many extra amenities are also available at Quail Hollow such as two 18-hole championship golf courses, extensive fitness center, and pool and spa offerings. In addition, nearby attractions include a premium quality wine region, Cleveland Metro parks Zoo, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Great Lakes Science Center, Lake Erie “Walleye Capital of the World” and the world famous Cedar Point Amusement Park located in Sandusky, Ohio.

Plans are currently underway to offer some preconference fun activities that include  golfing, a once in a lifetime Lake Erie walleye charter fishing trip, or a complete spa sensation  on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Further details regarding these options will be forthcoming. So plan accordingly, to visit Ohio for both business and pleasure!

Furthermore, in getting to know the Ohio grape and wine industry up close, there will be a preconference vineyard and winery tour on Monday, July 20, 2009 in Northeast Ohio.  The tour will include stops at exquisite, premium quality producing wineries providing both lunch and dinner at participating wineries. Specific topics and tour opportunities in both viticulture and enology will be covered among the stops during the day.

Technical sessions will be presented by academic scientists and students on Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Following the technical sessions, a post conference symposium titled “Winegrowing in the 21st century” will be held on Wednesday, July 22, and will feature recent advances on growing premium winegrapes from site selection to harvesting in transporting quality into the cellar. The symposium will be presented by national and international experts.
