The detection of odorous volatiles in gas chromatog. effluents by smell is discussed, and the use of CHARM (combined hedonic response measurement) in high-resoln. gas chromatog. with computerized data collection is exemplified by detection of the 3 isomers of Me jasmonate. The possible use of sensory detection in bioassays also is considered.
