Members of VEGGIES have a wide range of backgrounds (chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, sensory science, horticulture, genetics) tied together by a central interest in improving and understanding factors that affect grape and wine quality.

The mission of VEGGIES is to provide time for reflection on current projects, and to stimulate discussion and ideas for future projects and collaborations  Presentations may include a peer-reviewed paper chosen for group discussion and/or a brief summary of new or preliminary results.

Literature Discussion: Papers may be chosen from any discipline and any field.  Papers may be directly focused on wine and grapes, or they may discuss methods and strategies that have been implemented in other fields and could be adopted to studies on wine and grapes.

Research Presentation: VEGGIES provides an ideal forum for its members to share early results, consider interpretations, or discuss future proposals or research plans. This opportunity should be used both as a chance to educate other members about ongoing projects and to provide early feedback to the presenter.

The nature of each meeting is at the discretion of the group or individual leading discussion.  Meetings may include both research and literature, or only one or the other.
