Computer application programs can be classified according to their function (such as word processing, data base management, spreadsheet, communication, graphics, or statistics) or according to the use made of the data (monitor, exception, inquiry, or analysis). All of these program types and some others have possible applications in brewing laboratories, although significant differences exist between quality assurance and research and development.
