Pre-Symposium Tour
The
pre-symposium tour will be a two-day tour (Saturday Aug. 2 and Sunday Aug.
3) of New York City and orchards in the eastern part of New York State,
followed by a tour of the Cornell University Campus and research orchards
in Ithaca, NY. Participants
should arrive at New York City on Friday Aug. 1 and make their way to the
designated hotel in Manhattan for overnight accommodations on Friday evening. On
Saturday August 2, participants and accompanying persons will have a guided
tour of New York City (Manhattan) and then travel by motor coach to the
Hudson Valley region of New York State where they will visit orchards and
a packing plant.

The Hudson Valley region is directly north of New York City and is the second largest fruit growing district in New York State. After staying overnight in the Hudson Valley, the group will travel to the central part of NY State to Ithaca, home of Cornell University where they will tour the campus and research orchards. The tour will end on Sunday afternoon in Geneva in time to register and join the opening reception of the symposium.
The cost
of the pre-symposium tour is $400 USD double occupancy and $450 single
occupancy and includes
2 nights in hotels (Friday Aug. 1 and Saturday Aug. 2) and 3 meals (B,L,D)
on Saturday August 2 and 2 meals (B,L) on Sunday August 3. Participants
will be responsible to arrange air or ground transportation following the
symposium from Rochester back to New York City. (A low cost airline, Jetblue.com,
provides inexpensive flights from Rochester airport to John F Kennedy airport
in New York City.)

Post-
Symposium Tours
The post-symposium tour will be a two-day tour
(Saturday Aug. 9 and Sunday Aug. 10) of orchards in the western part of
New York State followed by a tour of the world famous Niagara Falls. Participants
will leave Geneva on Saturday morning Aug. 9, and travel to Orleans County
in Western NY to visit orchards and then to Niagara Falls for
dinner and overnight accommodations. On Sunday August
10, participants will tour the falls by land and boat, and travel to
Rochester with an orchard tour enroute. The tour will end on Sunday afternoon
in Rochester. Dinner
that evening will be on your own. Participants should arrange to fly from
Rochester on Monday morning.
The cost of the post-symposium tour is
$300 USD double occupancy and $350 single occupancy and includes
2 nights in hotels (Saturday Aug. 9 and Sunday Aug. 10) and 3 meals (B,L,D)
on Saturday Aug. 9 and 2 meals (B,L) on Sunday Aug 10.
