Details: Ever wonder what plant-parasitic nematodes do to your crops and profitability or how you can manage them on an as-needed-basis? Then plan on attending this train-the-trainers workshop funded through the NE-SARE Professional Development Program and learn about nematode biology and ecology; signs and symptoms of nematode damage in the field and on crops; soil nematode assessment (focusing on on-farm methods); and management options and managing nematodes on an as-needed basis. This workshop has been designed to train participants throughout the Northeast (extension educators, regional specialists, crop consultants, IPM practitioners, interested growers and other agricultural service personnel) in nematode diagnosis and management and to provide resources that can be used on-the-farm and in various outreach activities.
Registration is FREE (however, pre-registration is requested for planning purposes) and all participants will receive a notebook binder of printed informational materials as well as a CD-ROM of workshop files and a sampling kit. The cost of the breaks and lunch will also be covered by the project. An application for DEC recertification credits in categories 1A, 10 and 23 has been submitted for the Batavia, NY workshop. It is anticipated that this same workshop will also be held at 8 other locations across the Northeast in fall/winter 2008/2009 (dates and locations TBD).
