Stone fruits include the fruit trees within the genus of Prunus. The most commonly produced commercial stone fruits are almonds, apricots, cherries, nectarines, peaches, plums, and prunes. These fruits are characterized as having a hard stony pit (seed) surrounded by a fleshy fruit.
