Overview

Partners in Science is an opportunity for scientists who work in our community to help enrich the science education in local schools. Scientists from Cornell's Agricultural Experiment Station and from Hobart and William Smith Colleges are participating in this service program to help students understand that science is a fascinating, creative, and hands-on activity. Participating scientists visit local classrooms to teach students about a particular topic or engage them in a hands-on scientific investigation.

We feel that one of the greatest services we can provide as scientists is to help educate children on the importance, role and the fascination we have for our profession. In our society, it is essential that everyone understands how science is done. By engaging students in "doing science" we hope they will develop a better understanding of who scientists are, how we conduct scientific research, and the creative drive that leads us to be scientists.
