In the works...My current research projects involve foliar diseases of strawberries including: Leaf spot, Leaf scorch, Leaf blight, Powdery mildew, and Angular leaf spot. I also work on strawberry fruit diseases, including Gray mold and Anthracnose. It's my job to do research related experiments in the lab and greenhouse, and then take the results out to the field for further evaluation. I also coordinate chemical control trials on apple, processing peach, sweet cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants and gooseberries with Gregg in both our own experimental orchards and commercial orchards owned by growers/cooperators.  I assist in establishing new research plantings for use in future disease studies. Other things I do in my spare time include developing disease fact sheets, articles for grower newsletters, publications and talks for meetings, doing data analysis and summaries, preparing research reports, identifying disease problems from grower samples, and keeping a large lab and field program with up to 8 people organized and supplied year round.


Who could ask for anything more?!

My job is extremely exciting and challenging, and sometimes very tiring! One of the things I like best about it is getting to meet people from all over the world and work with them on research projects. This also helps to keep my language skills up to date, Oui? Si! The ultimate best part of my job, though, is getting to work with fungi on a daily basis.


The icing on the cake...

Is plant pathology my life? An integral part, of course, but not the be all and end all by any means. I have a heavenly Father who meets my every need, a wonderful husband who is the light of my life, a loving family, a wonderful church and three ornery cats who make every day interesting, to say the least. What do I do when I'm not at work? Pray, spend time with my husband, read, watch birds, garden, quilt, hike, camp, bicycle, walk, play the recorder, and enjoy life to the fullest!
