   Program Overview

Major research responsibilities and interests deal with the ecology and biology of fungal and nematodal soilborne plant pathogens and the integrated management of their resultant root diseases, especially on vegetable crops. Research projects conducted have been of a problem-solving nature and have included both applied and basic aspects of Plant Pathology and Nematology. Current projects are emphasizing microbial interactions, determination of damage threshold densities, biological control, identification and advancement of resistant germplasm sources, development of Soil-IPM programs for vegetable production systems and collaborative research and training on soil health. In addition, I have always been interested in international agriculture and have developed special interest in tropical diseases and their management.
