4.4 Soil pH

Vitis vinifera vines are very intolerant of soil pH's less than 5.5, while American cultivars are often more suited to low soil pH. Soils in Seneca County are acidic. The ph in the county varied from 4 to 6, with only a small area of soil above 6.
