Application Instructions
Only United States citizens or permanent residents are eligible for this program
The submission deadline for all application related material is
February 15, 2010
What you need to submit:
- Application. Application Form submitted
online.
- Official Transcript, mailed (postmarked
by February 15, 2010) to:

- Waiver of Inspection to Academic Reference Letters. Please fill out the Waiver of Inspection Form (for each reference professor, two copies needed), print, sign, and mail one copy for each reference professor to Amy Andersen at the address above (postmarked by February 15, 2010), and give the duplicate copy to your reference professor for their information.
- Two Academic Reference Letters submitted online. These reference letters should be from professors who know you well and who can evaluate your ability, experience, and potential. Each reference letter needs to be completed and submitted using the online Academic Reference Form. You should assume responsibility to follow up with your professors to know that materials have been submitted.
- Personal
Statement submitted online. Please
provide a Personal Statement (single spaced and limited to 4200
characters/spaces)
addressing each of the following (it is suggested that you prepare
the text in as a Word document, then copy and paste it into the online
form):
- Describe your personal career goals and objectives
- Your reasons for wanting to participate in the Summer Scholars program
- Your previous research experience and acquired skills
- Why you are interested in the discipline of plant pathology or plant-microbe biology
